“The Challenge: USA” returns for Episode 3, “Declarations of Independence,” on Wednesday, July 20 (7/20/2022) at 9 p.m. ET on CBS, and the question on everyone’s mind is, “can anyone stop Tyson Apostol?”

With three “Love Island” contestants gone, Kyra, Justine, Cinco, Shannon and Cashay will be interested in some payback.

What will happen this week?

According to a synopsis from CBS, “Loyalties are tested as a powerful duo starts to raise suspicions among alliances; the lack of chemistry between a new team of mismatched challengers puts their game in serious danger.”

After TJ dropped the bomb in episode 1 that the rest of the Challenges would have random [read: producer assigned] teams, the new allies got to know each other.

Justine was skeptical of Tyson as an ally at first, since he eliminated her top ally in the previous episode, but she quickly changed mindset, recognizing that, as a power player, Tyson also represented her best chance to win.

And win they did. The Yeah Buoy challenge combined climbing strength, swimming skill and vocabulary prowess, but together they managed to win, propelling Tyson to his second power position in a row.

James found himself on the bottom, just 1 episode after successfully convincing Tyson to spare him.

Elsewhere in the house, a contingent began to build against “Big Brother” 23′s Tiffany, who is seen as being overly flirtatious by some women including Cashay and Kyra. Despite assuring her she was safe, Tyson pulls a Survivor-style blindside after talking with Xavier and Alyssa and sends Tiffany to the elimination, along with Cashel.

In the Knowledge is Powered cycling/memory challenge, it was neck-and-neck for the first two rounds, until Tiffany started running out of steam. No matter how much Cashel huffed and puffed, he couldn’t solo carry the team. James and Cayla survived and added to their bank account totals.
