ROH Death Before Dishonor Match Card

Allysin Kay vs. Willow Nightingale could go either way, making it difficult to predict a winner with any confidence.

Kay is the more established name and on the NWA roster. For star-power purposes, having her win would make sense.

However, Nightingale has made regular appearances for All Elite Wrestling, including the past three weeks. If she's being eyed to sign to this brand, having her win would be a great means to spotlight her as one for the future.

If Nightingale had a better win-loss record in AEW, the scales could tip in her favor, but losing this week on Dynamite may be an even bigger indication that her "win" will be just being in the ring.

This ROH World Six-Man Tag Team Championship match has received no build at all and was merely announced on the card rundown. That gives no indication of any element of the bout.

We don't know who could be signed to ROH, as the roster isn't public knowledge right now. None of these six wrestlers have ties to AEW like others on the card. There is no storyline to base this on or anything that could point in one direction.

Being completely in the dark means this is anyone's guess. However, The Righteous are champions and it doesn't hurt to have some titleholders keep their belts, particularly with others on this card likely to change hands.

The ROH Women's World Championship is one of two titles particularly in jeopardy of going to a new person, with Serena Deeb heading into this match more highly favored than Mercedes Martinez.

In and of herself, Martinez is more than worthy of her title. She's a veteran who commands respect.

However, Deeb's entire character revolves around how adept she is in the ring. She's been one of the best-booked women in AEW over the past year or so and fell just short of winning the AEW Women's World Championship.

Since Tony Khan opted not to give her that title, it seems fitting he'd give her this instead. It fits with her background as a coach, given how ROH positions itself as more of a pure wrestling program for building stars of the future.

Also, never sell short how a title change can make a show feel more important and exciting to those watching.

While it isn't always the cast, most 2-out-of-3 Falls matches tend to end with a score of 2-1. That way, even the loser scored a decision.

That's the position The Briscoes will likely find themselves in come Saturday night.

Too much has been built up around Dax Harwood and Cash Wheeler's status as arguably the best tag team in the business for them to drop the belts to The Briscoes, who seem to be more involved with Impact Wrestling than anything else. They are under contract with ROH, but until this brand gets more solid ground on a regular television show they can appear on, FTR can do more good with these belts by showing them off around the world.

This should be a tough fight, but FTR will hold onto the gold when everything's said and done.

Given how much Daniel Garcia has been positioned as a noteworthy prospect since joining AEW, it wouldn't be surprising if he won the ROH Pure Championship.

It could also be a good way to put a title on him without derailing any plans for the TNT or All-Atlantic Championship.

However, the same leeway should be given to Wheeler Yuta, who has made impressive strides in recent months to earn this title. Why take the title off him if it isn't necessary?

The longer Yuta holds this belt, the more it helps his career and his association with Blackpool Combat Club. Being a pure wrestling champion is extremely fitting for that faction.

This one is a tough call, but when in doubt, go with the champion retaining.

Whoever walks out of Death Before Dishonor with the ROH World TV Championship will reveal how Khan plans to balance out these two between AEW and ROH.

Samoa Joe holding a title in ROH is a bigger deal. The game plan may be more about having that belt on a more popular name to draw attention to the promotion, but Jay Lethal hasn't done much since joining AEW.

He is more synonymous with the ROH brand and it can be argued he'd be a bigger fish there, while Joe can be saved for more marquee matches on the flagship programming.

Considering the advantage Lethal has with Satnam Singh and Sonjay Dutt, who may interfere and cost Joe the match, keep your eyes on Lethal possibly stealing the title.

During the post-show media scrum for AEW x NJPW Forbidden Door, Khan said he had reached out to Claudio Castagnoli more so about appearing at this event than making his debut as Bryan Danielson's replacement.

If you read between the lines, that may mean the original plan was to focus on the Swiss star as the featured player for this new era of ROH and have him win the world title at this event.

He is the far bigger star than Jonathan Gresham. Putting the title on Castagnoli not only validates his quest to be the top guy after so many years of going nowhere in WWE as Cesaro, but it will put more eyes on the product.

Gresham hasn't had a short reign, either. After holding it over 220 days, losing it now and to a star of Castagnoli's credibility won't hurt him by any means.

The best way to show fans this is a new era for ROH is to have a new champion at the top of the roster and Castagnoli is perfect for the role.
